Ingredients:

  • 1 package Savage Jerky Smokehouse Bacon Jerky (or any Savage Jerky bacon jerky variety), chopped and divided

Cinnamon Roll Dough:

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature

Filling:

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 granny smith apple, diced
  • 2 tbsp Savage Jerky Bacon Jerky crumbles

Caramel:

  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 cup half & half
  • 1/4 cup apple cider
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:

For the dough:

In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar and set aside. Combine milk and butter in a small sauce pan and heat until warm and butter is melted, but not more than 115º. Add yeast packet to mixture and combine with flour and sugar, add egg and mix to combine until a soft dough forms. Transfer dough to a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth, approximately 5 minutes. Form into a ball and transfer to a clean, lightly-greased bowl. Cover, and let rest for 15 minutes. Once rested, roll dough into a rectangle approximately 12x8”.

For the filling:

Combine apple, bacon jerky, brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Spread softened butter over dough and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon mixture. Roll dough to make a log lengthwise, and using a sharp knife cut into approximately 9-12 qual sections. Arrange sections in a 9-10” baking dish and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, depending on geographic location.

For the caramel sauce:

Combine all ingredients into a saucepan and heat over low heat, whisking until combined and melted through, set aside to cool.

Bake:

Place baking dish in a pre-heated 375º oven and bake for 25-27 minutes, or until golden brown and set. Once caramel has cooled, drizzle over cinnamon rolls and top with remaining bacon jerky. Serve warm.
