This delicious chili recipe utilizes our premium beef jerky to pack a huge boost in flavor and texture. It's sure to be just the warm-up you need to carry through those cold winter nights! 


  • 1 package Savage Jerky Cracked Pepper & Sea Salt premium beef jerky, chopped
  • 1 lb. ground beef  
  • 1 28oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 10oz can Rotel™ diced tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 large jalapeno, diced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp chili powder (4 if not using chili sauce recipe)
  • ½ tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground mustard
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 tsp ground cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and Pepper

Optional, but recommended:

  • 4 dried Guajillo chiles
  • 4 dried California chiles
  • 6 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp white vinegar
Chili Sauce
Remove stems and seeds from dried peppers, add to a large saucepan and cover with room temperature water. Bring saucepan to a simmer then turn off heat, cover and steep for at least 5 minutes. Combine peppers, half of cooking liquid, garlic and vinegar to a blender and blend until smooth.


In a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat, add tbsp olive oil and ground beef. Cook ground beef until thoroughly cooked through, add onion and jalapeno. Continue to cook, stirring frequently until onion is translucent and jalapeno has softened, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and continue to cook another minute more, season with salt and pepper.

Add remaining ingredients, and chili sauce if using, to pot. Bring chili to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for at least one hour, stirring frequently.
